Welcome to WUF Westside UrbanForum is now in its third decade as the premier networking organization dedicated to the land-use dialogue impacting Los Angeles’ Westside. Our monthly speaker series features good company and distinguished insightful speakers focused on a lively debate about the future of our urban fabric. As a group of developers, planners, designers, architects and community members engaged in all facets of planning and development, we seek to increase the quality of policy discussions impacting the Westside. Java or Jobs: LA’s growing transit system creates significant opportunity to shape the City’s landscape. But when transit stations are located in industrially zoned areas, the City’s planning and development goals may or may not coincide with Developers’ conceptions of marketplace demands. Join us as panelists discuss how industrial zoning and transit-oriented development can coexist. What are the City’s growing industry sectors and what are their future space and locational needs? How should industrial land in transit areas be positioned to accommodate the businesses and industries of the future? How can housing be integrated and still allow land to be competitive for industry? Hear from our panel of experts on these and other important questions. The goal of the Westside Prize Awards is to recognize projects, programs, policies and academic studies that demonstrate excellence in city making and community building — work, small and large, built or unbuilt, that addresses the issues of planning for and building a livable future.
